Sweet Dreams takes its title from the gentle phrase we offer to loved ones before sleep. Set within a dreamlike night-time street illuminated by cool blue and violet light, the work combines ghost-like figures, sweet-shop imagery and familiar symbols of comfort to create a world that feels both inviting and strange.
A child watches from a window while characters drift through the scene, moving between spaces associated with pleasure, imagination and escape. What initially appears playful and reassuring gradually reveals a quieter sense of solitude and uncertainty.
Drawing on childhood as a psychological space rather than a nostalgic subject, the work reflects on the private worlds we create when left alone with our thoughts. Beneath the bright surfaces and familiar imagery, comfort and unease coexist, allowing the scene to shift gently between reassurance and ambiguity.
A dark, dreamlike street populated by ghostly figures, glowing shopfronts and symbols of comfort.
